Description:
This board is designed to review existing epilepsy cases and apply the most current evidence-based knowledge and guidelines to establish treatment plans for improved patient outcomes. Up to 6 Epilepsy cases are presented to the interprofessional team as possible candidates for surgery, DBS, RNS, or other treatment identified through this collaborative care plan discussion. These discussions include Q & A addressing medications, social and economic concerns, psychiatric recommendations, and recommendations for follow up Neurodiagnostic Procedure or Neurosurgery. On occasion an educational presentation will be made on newer technology used in an epilepsy surgery case and there will be discussion on how well the patient did after use of the technology in surgery, and opinions given on the new technologies' usefulness for their patient. This helps support the critical review by the team of new or emerging technologies, or other evidence supporting newer interventions or care approaches.
